Fun Sunday

What?!? Could you believe that Vintage Rockstar gave out free dresses last weekend at I love Bazaar, Subang Parade? It was true and I have taken two dress. Although these dresses have some defects but if you know how to fix the defects, you would have given these lovely dresses another life.

Here is one of the dresses that I have taken. Pastel pink - so unlike me. Love the design of dress, it is so 60s style.

With members of Thr5t. Apologies for the quality of photos. I use cheap digital camera (6.0 mega pixel!)

Bought the above skirt. Such a lovely skirt, don't you think? How can I resist??

Hope everyone had a great Monday. Four more days to go to the weekend. I am counting the days already...

Little white dress

I experimented something different for my photo shoot yesterday as I have ran out of locations (or perhaps I am too lazy to look for new locations) and also poses. To be honest, I am not very good in posing for photos and I could tend to be stuck in the same poses! Hope these turned out ok.

As for the dress, I was inspired by a section in Lucky magazine (March 2011); style spy on white dress. I rummaged my containers/boxes of vintage dresses (no more space in my wardrobe and I have to keep them in boxes!) to look for my little white dress, which I have never worn. Yesterday the dress made its debut appearance.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Old movie night: Roman Holiday

I am a fan of Audrey Hepburn. Love her style a lot. Her style is so chic and stylish. I heard about the film, Romany Holiday, I but never make any effort to watch it. Now, with old movie night, this film is on my to-watch list. No chips tonight but chocolate biscuits. Going to enjoy them with some tea. Aah... very relaxing night. Weekend is finally here. Hope you have great plans for the weekend. If none, why not head off to I love Bazaar at Subang Parade and pay a visit to Thr5t stall!

Enjoy the evening!

How could I resist...

With my two (not so) latest purchases from Etsy, I think it is only fair to share with you how am I getting on with my spending vow of RM50 per month. Well, I bet you can guess. Yup, I am totally off the track! Off the track for good reasons such as love a particular colour, do not have that piece in that colour etc. Or these are just lame excuses to get away with it.

Thrifted pre-loved skirt from Tirah (Flashback), I love bazaar. Love the colour!

60% price slashed, khaki blazer (which I have longed to buy for so long) from Cats Whiskers.

Yellow mustard top from Zara, winter collection clearance

All these items cost me less than RM100. Really thankful that I have Ang Pow monies to cover my purchases. Phew... I hope at some point I could really get back on track with my spending vow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Primary colours

Don't know where or how I got this idea of putting primary colours elements into my outfit for today. Usually I am not that bold. I would stay safe with basic and classic colours. But not for today. Just don't know why. Still swamped at work today but to de-stress, I have decided to have dinner with my friend and to window shop or to check out spring collections of Zara, Topshop, Forever21 and our very homegrown brand, Vincci. Most brands carry vintage inspired clothes. Vintage rules! Two more days to go to the weekend. Can't wait to see Ana and her friends. Yay!

Lucky or unlucky?

What can make ones' day none other than receiving a long waited items that was purchased via online or receiving a gift? Mine was a long waited items purchased from Etsy. Yes, I know, I am hooked on Etsy. Received these parcel at work. I was pretty excited and controlled myself not to open them at work.

Parcel 1

Nicely packed package with a thank you note. Nice gesture.

Shoes were nicely wrapped with layers of soft paper.

Shoes received in good condition but... yes, there is a but for this purchase. They do not fit. I am gutted. The seller made a typo error on the width of the shoes and I am not very familiar with that particular brand's sizing. I am thinking of selling them. Anyway, if anyone would like to provide these lovely shoes a new home. Please let me know.

Parcel 2

Guess what I bought?

It is a vintage pillbox hat! I love this hat. It fits well. Although there is no occasion for me to wear such hat but I am keeping it as part of my vintage collection.

So at this moment, I am partly happy and partly upset with my purchases. Anyway, I can't wait to check out Thr5t launch tonight! Good luck girls!

How to beat Monday's blues and to de-stress after a hard day at work? Well, if I had money, I would shop but in reality, I have a tiny wallet. Window shopping is my remedy (at least until I have the budget to shop). I am so loving these pants from Zara, 2011 spring collection. Love the cut and colours.

Hello sunshine

This morning, the Sun came out to greet the day. Last Saturday morning, the sunlight around 9-ish was not as strong and bright as today. I faced slight problem with photo shoot today. Had to reposition the tripod with camera and also myself. Thus, please excuse the squinty eyes. And also apologies for not posting an entry yesterday. There was a change of plan at the last minute. I was out till late night. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend so far.

Vintage shoes II

Now that I have got my babies, vintage shoes, I need to take good care of them. How? I bought 2-in-1 leather polish-like which cleans and protects. This step is pretty easy as ABC - just read and follow instructions on the box.

What's next? How to clean inside of the shoes? Hhmm.... pretty tricky as these are vintage shoes and I was not sure the history of the shoes. I googled to find a solution. And I did.

The magic ingredient is tea tree oil. Pour tea tree oil into water in the ratio 1:4. One part of tea tree oil for every 4 parts of water used. Dab a cloth into the solution and wipe inside of the shoes. For hard to reach spots, use cotton bud. After that, put the shoes to dry out in the Sun. I did not put them out long as the Sun is pretty hot over this part of the world. Just one to two minutes in the Sun and couple of minutes under the fan.

Now these babies are ready to walk the walk.

Black and white

Yesterday was a public holiday and I had a mouth watering lunch with friends, had a bit of good rest and tidied up my room and work room. I must reset my 'work after work' mode as there are few delays especially my sewing project on floral flared skirt, yard sale planning and re-organising my wardrobe. Yes, second part of the floral flared skirt is coming soon. Please bear with me.

Young and full of dreams

Photo taken from ana and her talking bulb

Last Saturday, it was a day to remember. A day that Ana from anaabu (formerly known as Vintage Packstocks) and I finally met in person. All these while we have been customer-seller relationship, then moved to following each other blogs and exchanging comments in the blogging world. It was great fun to meet Ana and her friends: Suwa and Tirah from Flashback.

Suwa and Ana - after a long day at I love bazaar, Subang Parade

As for Suwa, we were acquainted through exchanging comments on each other blogs. I checked out her blog once in a while. She has a cool blog - love her photos and her thoughts.

These young ladies are young and full of dreams. So much passion and they dare to dream big. I seriously envy them. They inspire me that dreams can be pursued regardless age. Just go for it! It was really, really great to meet and hang out with them. Good luck with your latest and upcoming project, Thr5t. All the best! Can't wait for it...

Love is in the air

During my stay in Ipoh for Chinese New Year, I checked out Novel Hut for any interesting old books. Then, I came across romance comics (but on the cover it is written as love stories in pictures). I reckon these are from 1970's. Although I am not a big fan of romance literature, I picked up two books. How strange yet funny to read romance comics. Sort of good read to kill some time at home.

Happy Valentine's Day to all and have a good week ahead!

Old movie night: Flashdance

Source: Scanned from the VCD cover

..with my favourite junk food - chips..

Went to the video store to rent either Bonnie and Clyde or Flashdance. I was hoping to watch Bonnie and Clyde tonight but unfortunately the store does not have it. When I asked the store assistant for Bonnie and Clyde, she gave me a puzzled look. Yeah, I know it is an old or classic movie and perhaps she thinks that I am from another planet - auntie planet??

Synopsis at the back of the VCD's blurb:

The visual and musical box-office smash Flashdance is the exhilarating story of Alex Owens (Jennifer Beals), a fiercely determined and beautiful 18-year-old woman, who works as a welder by day and a dance at a local bar at night. The film sparkles with the music of the 80's including the No. 1 hit song sung by Irene Cara "Flashdance - What a Feeling" and "Maniac" sung by Michael Sembello. We follow Alex's struggle to gain independence, find love and realize her dream - to dance at the Pittsburgh Conservatory of Dance.

Perhaps this movie will inspire me for my outfit tomorrow or to continue to pursue my dream in fashion??
