purple rain

It rained this morning and it made me lazy. I did not want to get out of my bed but eventually I got up. Not sure what was the problem with photos for today. The top looked too bright despite the photos were taken when it was cloudy. Perhaps, I did not set the camera properly. Anyway, there is a photo of the top taken few months back.

The look:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Fashion Project: fixing a beaded bag

Being a DIY girl (or sort of Ms. Fix It), I attempted to fix the broken beaded bag which I bought from Memory Lane instead of sending it to a bag repair shop. With the right tool, it turned out to be ok.

To fix the handle, I use a pair of needle-nose pliers as shown above.

Next, for the missing bead bits, some may prefer to leave them as it is. But for me, I would like to fill the empty spots. For this, try to find the closest colour of beads to the bag. Do bear mind that the bag is vintage and most probably one is unable to the exact beads. In this case, I use the closest colour of beads to the bag.

Stitch the beads onto the bag.

As for tearing bit in the bag. I just stitched two parts together with normal stitches. Do bear in mind that this bit is inside the bag thus no matter how the stitching looks like, nobody else would be able to see it. As long as it is fixed, this is what matters most.

Here is the fixed bag. Handle and missing beads have been fixed. And I have saved some money for getting it fixed in a bag repair shop.

And the other whilst checking out bags on etsy, I found a similar bag to mine in black.

The other day whilst checking out bags on etsy, I found a similar bag to mine in black. It costs over RM100 whilst I bought mine for RM5! Lucky me!

Weekend is around the corner. Have a great weekend and good luck in attempting to fix any bags!

For any upcoming holiday, I would love to enjoy simple things such as picnic in the park, go to an art exhibition or thrift around the town till I am broke. Oh how nice these could be...

What do you like to do on your holiday or day off?

waiting for autumn to arrive...

Waiting for autumn? Why not? Can not wait to look at yellow leaves falling down from trees. Strolling in the park. Feeding the ducks by the pond. How nice and lovely if these were not only my imagination.

thrifting and etsy rule

I was off yesterday. Needed to have a tiny little break from work. On my day off, I would thrift at places that are not opened on weekends. The Red Crescent Thrift Store is one of these places. I know, I know, I am not supposed to buy more things whilst I am in the processing of packing and sorting out stuff at home. But I was curious to know what is in store...

1980s dress

Mulberry (vintage?) bag

LV catalogue

I bought a lovely printed 1980s dress, a Mulberry bag and a LV catalogue. The dress is perfect for work, so it went into my shopping basket straight away. The Mulberry bag was in good condition. At first, I did not recognize the brand and got mixed up with Burberry. How silly of me... The design of the bag is cute and I did not hesitate to put into my cart. As for the LV catalogue, it is just for my collection on fashion books.

Tapestry bag, made in France, bought from etsy

vintage flower brooches, bought from etsy

More excitement to come when items that I have ordered from etsy have finally and safely arrived! New tapestry bag and pretty flower brooches to add into my collection of bags and brooches. Yay! Yesterday was indeed a great day! No Monday blues...

luck is on my side

I was back in my hometown over the weekend, thus I did not manage to snap and post my Saturday's outfit. Although I missed the Vintage Market, I had my little thrifting adventures at my two usual thrifting spots:

Salvation's Army's thrift store

retro dress (?)

vintage change purse

Memory Lane

1980s black wicker bag

1980s woven bag

1950s or 1960s beaded bag (need some fixing)

vintage sewing basket

And I could not believe my luck! On the contrary, I guess, it is a bit irony as I needed to clear as much as possible my stuff for the move and yet I am acquiring things.

Have a good week ahead!

mark these dates!

I bet everyone is in shopping mood lately. After Urbanscape, here comes the long waited Vintage Market which will be held tomorrow, 23rd July from 2 to 6 pm. Too bad, again, I have to pass this.

Next exciting event would be the
SPCA Jumbo Sale! I missed it last year but hoping to check it out this year. It will be held on 31st July, from 9 am to 1 pm. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Elegant, feminine, sophisticated and yet classy; these are what a lace dress is all about. No matter how one styles a lace dress, the beauty of the dress speaks for itself. Maybe it is time to make a lace dress as one of wardrobe staples, besides a LBD.

plain and blah

Feeling blah and today's outfit was a bit plain. Perhaps it was one of those days kind of thing. Does your outfit affect your mood for the day or does your mood affect your outfit ensemble? I could not help myself thinking; when you look good, you feel good?

treasure (plastic) chest

Whilst sorting out things to pack, I came across a plastic container full items like a vest, a skirt, two bustiers to name a few. These were my so-called coursework when I was studying at IFTC in fashion design and dressmaking couple of years ago. Oh boy, how time flies.

Back then, as a student, due to limited financial support and to save money on buying material for coursework purposes, I bought fabric based on the price tag instead of the print of the material. Hhhmm.. not sure if I made a wise choice using colourful striped fabric to make a vest.

Unfinished sleeveless shirt. Always 'forgotten' to sew buttons on any clothes, not just this piece.

This is a cute piece. A 8-piece skirt. Perhaps I should move this skirt from the box into my wardrobe...

How I wish I could study again. If I could study again, what should I study? Shoes making or Bag making?

newly acquired

If you live nearby Giant, Kota Damansara do check out the little stalls in the mall. There is one stall selling bundle clothes. And I do not think that it would be permanently stationed in the mall but maybe for Raya promotion only. Anyway, I bought a floral dress. Such a lovely piece, love print on the skirt. So beautiful.

1970s floral dress

Remember I made an entry on a reject stock store at The Curve's weekend fashion bazaar back in April? Click here to read the post to refresh your memory. I stopped by at the store, before heading to Tesco for grocery shopping. It did not look the same as before but that did not really matter much. What matters most was that the clothes were on sale! Yay! Cheaper price... and I bought these lovelies:

1980s dress

1980s dress

The off white dress is for work and the blue dress er.. I have not really thought about it, perhaps wedding reception or ... The blue dress is super cool. Just to pair it with a nice cocktail hat or fascinator. That would be superb.

Have a good week ahead!

another maxi dress

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Missed Urbanscape last night but looking forward to checking out blog posts on it. Would be interested to know how it went.

Stumbled upon this dress whilst trying to ensemble my outfit. Bought this dress from my trip to Bandung last year and the dress has been in my wardrobe for ages untouched until yesterday. Must to break my habit of keeping newly purchased items for while before using them.

The look:

Whether it is soft opening or official opening of chic4less, I have decided to try to help my pre-loved items, either contemporary or vintage pieces to find new homes. The blog is still undergoing updating but do stop by and check it out.

Have a great weekend!

So in love with pleated skirts. They are effortlessly chic. How I wish I could have them in different colours and lengths. Aaaww... that would be very, very nice. Don't you think?
