audrey oh audrey.....

audrey Ikea
Print screen of IKEA website: http://www.ikea.com/hk/en/catalog/products/30216372/

I think I have briefly mentioned in my of early entries that I have moved to another place last summer. Two main reasons for the move; I needed a bigger space and to stay somewhere away from the city (or to be exact, away from shopping malls, which I see them as temptations, endless temptations...). In the past few months, I have been checking out, selecting and buying electrical appliances and furniture for my new place. Now, I left with few minor things to sort out and last but not least, decorating the place which can be fun and exciting.

When I am free (oopss...when I should have used this time to blog but I was inspired to write though :( ...) I surfed interior design websites for inspirations but I have yet to make any decisions though. During one my trips to IKEA, I came across a picture of Audrey Hepburn and I fell in love it again. Well, I have got my eyes on IKEA's Audrey Hepburn picture for a long time even before I moved to Hong Kong. What stopped me to purchasing the picture is the price..... Lately, I thought perhaps I should try to make it myself (not that I am a very painter though) and this indeed sounds like a good idea as a project....

in christmas mood already?!

midvest vintage shopping bag

It felt like ages since my last visit to Midvest Vintage, hence I went there in the past couple of weeks. In general, I think some of its vintage merchandise are affordable and well curated. This time, I did not leave the shop with empty handed.Out of sudden, I had the feeling to buy a vintage Christmas brooch. I know, I know, Christmas is still far away, that's what the salesperson said too. Don't know why I am into Christmas.....

goodies

vintage brooch

Here are the goodies... the necklaces were on sale; HK$10 for each. Now, how can anyone resist this? I needed a black belt and was lucky to find one in the store. What do you think of the brooch? I can't wait to wear it!

Hope you had a great weekend. Have a great week ahead!

Hello...

10 Oct 1

the look: vintage top, elastic belt, vintage skirt, black sheer stockings, flats

Hello! Hope everyone is well. I am kind of struggling to adjust after working hours, commuting time, dinner etc. This is not a complaint but I am learning to make necessary adjustment and not to neglect my blog, that's all. Anyway, I am glad that I can squeeze in one vintage outfit for work this week. I bought the vintage top here but the vintage skirt, I brought it all the way from KL. I have been thinking for the moment, I will try to post at least twice a week instead of daily.

Stay chic and stylish!

ooppss... i did it again

vintage bally shoes

Oppss... I did it again. Well, there is double meaning here. Firstly, yes, I went MIA for a while. I sincerely apologize for this.... I was working on so-called a ssecret project which now it is not the right time to share anything about it yet. Believe me, I wanted to share with you but... I just can't. Once the timing is right, I will definitely share with you. Secondly, I bought a pair of vintage Bally shoes in one of the vintage stores in HK. My heart dashed into tiny pieces when I learnt that my vintage Ferragamo is wearing out and it is time to buy a new pair. Not sure whether it was pure luck, coincidence or fate, I came across a lovely pair of vintage Bally shoes in my size in a vintage store when I was so-called window shopping few weeks ago! Kind of perfect timing as well. Anyway, what do you think of my addition?

Here, I am sharing some photos of my brief trip to Taiwan in July. Visited the Ocean World and Yehlie Geo Park and few other places. It was good trip away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Felt like a student again when I was in the ocean world. So excited seeing the exotic fishes or other ocean creatures. Yehliu Geo Park is an interesting place with breath taking view of the sea, good place to snap photos. Can you guess the last photo - what does it look?

I'm back!

Hi all! I am back! Hope you are well and having a great summer (or winter, if you are in the Southern Hemisphere). Sorry for being hiatus over the past two months. Besides occupied with work (as usual, the lame excuse...) I was away for a short break and also moved to another place away from the city - somewhere in my opinion it's better than the previous place. Just a quick and short note to show that I have forgotten Colourful Buttons readers (hhmm... if you are still following CB).

Anyway, enjoy the rest of the weekend and stay chic!

interesting book: lessons from madame chic

book

Happy weekend! Sorry for missing in action lately. Besides occupied with work, I have started reading again and I have finished reading this book a while ago. There are some great advices, tips and insight of French lifestyle or culture. Interesting book, I would say. It covers diet and exercise, style and beauty, and lastly how to live well, the French way. I indeed would try some of the advices or tips. I guess when I was in my 20's it was time to focus on studies and work. In 30's it is about to find the real purpose of life and to live it passionately and fully...And this is the reason why I bought and read this book.

If you need a good read and looking for a change, this maybe the book for you.... Have a great weekend.

summer outfit wishlist

summer outfit 1

summer outfit 2

summer outfit 3

Here is another summer outfit wishlist. First set is casual wear suitable for thrifting adventure or exploring the city. If there is any cocktail party to attend, I would definitely wear the second set of outfit. I love the clutch, it is so adorable. As for the last set, it is very demure and ladylike, suitable for brunch or tea with girlfriends. An afternoon of chatting to catch up with each other.

Weekend is around the corner... Any exciting or interesting plans for the weekend?

vintage blue top with white piping

the look: vintage top, thrifted belt, jeans, bangles, sneakers, tote bag

It was sunny and warm yesterday. Nice weather for outdoor photo shoot. At first, I was contemplating whether I should take photos outdoor or indoor but then I mustered all my strength and courage (yes, need a little of courage to pose outdoor, the possibility of being watched by strangers) I headed to a nearby so-called park. I was lucky, not many strangers passing the park. Phew...

Hope you had a great weekend and have a good and productive week ahead!

midwest vintage

store

midwest

One of the vintage stores in HK that I have yet to pay a visit is Midwest Vintage. Today, weather can be considered as nice - sunny but a bit warm, but this did not hinder me to explore this vintage store. To get here, I took  Island Line MTR and alight at Tin Hau, Exit A2. I walked along Electric Road and I crossed the road when I passed Causeway Bay Market. Walked straight ahead and crossed Whitfield Road and turned left into Watson Road. Victoria Centre is about 10 to 15 minutes walk. Another option is to alight at North Point MTR station.

Shop details:

Address: Victoria Centre, G/F, #63, 15 Watson Road, North Point, Hong Kong
Business hours: 12 noon to 9 pm
Tel: 2802 6886
Website: www.midwest-vintage.com

vintage belt

The store is well curated with vintage goodies such as vintage bags, vintage accessories and of course vintage clothes. As for the price (as far as I can remember correctly), vintage pins are between HK$50 (promo price) to HK$80, vintage belts are in the range of HK$98 to HK298 and vintage dresses at HK398 per piece. Overall, it is worth to pay a visit, perhaps you will find something that you like and purchase it home, just like what I did today!

vintage marie-claire magazines

vintage french magazines

Finally, they have arrived! Early of the month, I have placed an order; two vintage French magazines - Marie Claire on Etsy. These really made my day.... here some photos of the magazines:

1937 a

1937 b

1937 c

1940 a

1940 b
photos taken from www.etsy.com

The dresses are so lovely and I have wondered if I could sew these kind of dresses some day. Vintage 1930s patterns are pricey and I am not ready to splurge on these. Hhhmm... perhaps one day...maybe a gift for myself?
