Buttons on the move: Bandung I

Over the weekend, my friend and I went on our maiden shopping trip to Bandung, Indonesia. The airport is very a small building. It took a while for us to get through the immigration (two lanes for immigration section) and customs.

We were greeted by a staff member from the Dago Guest House. He drove us from the airport to the guest house. Dago is located in the North of Bandung, in a mountainous area. The air is fresh in the morning and in the sunny afternoon, you could feel the cooling breeze brushing your skin, which I found pretty weird. Felt like hot and cold at the same time.

I booked a room via the Internet after reading few reviews and checking with my travelling companion. The price is affordable and the room is ok with basic necessity like gas water heater, bathroom (sharing with toilet), air conditioning and TV. The channels on the TV was pretty impressive with many choices from AXN, Star Movies, Discovery Channel, MTV to name a few.

Bandung is well-known as a shopping paradise for shopaholics. It offers many factory outlets for one to shop from morning till night. Once we reached our room, without any haste both of us headed to factory outlets. Without any particular itinerary in our minds, we let Mr. Hery, from the guest house, to take us around.... (to be continued)

Fashion project: From baggy to tapered

My very first pair of vintage pants which I purchased from the Vintage Packstocks a while ago. Love the colour but it was slightly baggy for me - it needed a bit of alteration.

First step is to un-hem the pants. Then measure the desired width to take in on both sides of the seams of each leg. Mine is from half an inch (hips) to third quarter of an inch (ankle).

Mark the measurements and draw a line from hips to the bottom of the pants. Pin along the markings and then you are ready to sew.

Once you have finished sewing, hem the bottom of the pants. Iron or press the seams to shape the pants accordingly.

I can't wait to wear the pants and I have just the right top to go with them. Happy Malaysia Day everyone and hope you will enjoy the day.

Tiny floral

Selamat Hari Raya! It's Raya weekend and I hope everyone is enjoying the festive season. I would be busy visiting friends and indulging yummy food especially rendang.

It is a good idea to wear something comfortable or loose fitting. This is a beautiful dress. I love the tiny blue and white floral print. It is a sweet print.

I have got carried away in snapping photos earlier today. Snapped couple of artsy-like photos but just shared one at this point. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Fashion project: Adding lace trimming

When I first saw the dress, I knew exactly what to do with it - shorten and add lace trimming. I love the tiny lace trimming around the neckline and armholes and also its colour. At the same time, I could imagine how to style the dress. All these were in my mind just in that particular first minute.

Firstly, I needed to take in the sides for better fit. Then, I measured the required length for the skirt, mark it and cut accordingly. Next, I pinned the hem and the lace trimming. Once those are done, it was sewing time! Sewed the sides, hem line and lace trimming as pinned. Now, the dress is ready.

Hope all Muslim readers will have a great Raya celebration and the rest a great break. Selamat Hari Raya! Maaf zahir dan batin. :-)

Back to school

Wearing a pinafore makes me feel like a school girl again although I have left school for many years. Just about one month ago, I had a tiny bit obsession with pinafores. So, don't be surprise to see me in different print or design of pinafores in later entries.
