Ipoh Mali!

This is ipoh tree. My hometown is named after this tree. Last Saturday, for the first time in my life, I took a rain from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh. Took this opportunity to snap some photos around the railway station.

The building was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback and was opened in 1935. The Majestic Hotel is located in this building. Great architecture, don't you think?

Ipoh City Council building

During the last few trips, passed this so-called antique shop couple of time but it was closed. This time I was lucky. It was opened. Was a bit disappointed because there were not many items in the shop but was informed that the shop will be moved to a new and unknown location (at this point) . Bought a tapestry clutch. The clutch is in mint condition with price tag.

Not much luck last weekend at the Salvation's Army thrift store. Perhaps it was a good thing. Anyway, bought a colour block bag which screams 1980's. The bag needs a bit of cleaning and will be ready to rock in any outfit.

Now, I have to think a place to store these lovely bags...

Keeping mum

First of all, my sincere apologies to all that I did not post an entry yesterday as intended. Experienced some technical problem last evening and this has been resolved. Phew... and now I am back. Remember this set of skirt suit? Bought the set during my trip to Ipoh in February. During a briefing at work, one of the staff asked if I purchased the lovely set from Zara. I just smiled.

It was thrifting after all...

Remember the window thrifting that I mentioned two Sundays ago? Well, it did not really turn out to be window thrifting after all. I bought these:

1980's striped top

1970's 8-piece skirt

1980's dress

Although I did not buy a lot, I think I was quite lucky with these finds. Love them - cute top, pretty skirt and lovely dress. What else could I ask for more (at this point)?

Stayed tune for tomorrow's thrift finds post to check out what I bought during my recent trip back to Ipoh. Have a great week ahead everyone!

Outfit Posts Week: #5

Not sure if you noticed but I have got a bit of sunburn. Was taking photos outdoor for work today and I was without any protection from the sun such as hat or sunblock cream. My face is red as a lobster! First outfit posts week has come to an end. I am contemplating whether I should allocate one week of every month for outfit posts week. What do you think?

The look:

Vintage pleated skirt from Mon't Kiara's flea market
Belt
Low heels shoes from Amcorp Mall's flea market

No posting tomorrow. Have a good weekend!

Outfit Posts Week: #4

It is dress time! After three consecutive days wearing pants, it was nice to be in a dress. It is not that I do not like pants, but I do not think that pants suit me well. Paired the simple dress with a so-called boyfriend blazer. Actually, the blazer is about one size bigger than my normal size. One more day to the weekend. Yay! But first outfit posts week will end soon...

Outfit Posts Week: #3

I am unable to recall if this would be my first attempt at colour blocking. Anyway, I did not really accessorise a lot as I was trying to keep the outfit down a bit. Have been slightly dressed up to work lately. Not sure if any of my colleagues notices anything...

Outfit Posts Week: #2

Yet another masculine look for work today. Added a bit of colour (pink) to complete the look and to add a tiny bit of femininity into the outfit. The vest was features in one of the posts in Aug 2010. I paired the vest with maxi skirt. Click here to check out that post. Which look do you prefer or like?

Outfit Posts Week: #1

I have decided to post outfits for this whole week. Outfit ensembles would be mixture of contemporary, thrifted, hands-me-down and/or vintage pieces. My first ensemble is quite boyish. I hardly wear a vest to work and this was my first attempt!

The look:
Vintage blouse from Vintage Packstocks (now known as anaabu)
Vest from fashion bazaar
Hands-me-down pants
Pumps

Have a good week ahead!

Puffs of clouds or cotton flowers?

The print on the dress looks like puffs of clouds or cotton flowers; loads of fluffy shapes. Found this dress in an offer corner- all RM5 - in a fashion bazaar. I think I have quite good luck in finding nice items at great deals. So far, so good. For this outfit, instead of using a belt, I used a sash. Quite girly, don't you think?

The look:

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. I am looking forward to my window thrifting tomorrow :)

Bags, bags, bags...

Just like shoes, I wonder how bags does a woman need? Drooling over these lovely bags. Wish I could buy them all. Oh how I wish...

Weekend is around the corner - Yay! What are you plans? I will be window thrifting (if such term exists).I will be hitting to a flea market to de-stress and to check out stuffs and all. It has been a tough week at work.

Styled few ensembles using polka dots as the theme. Wish these were really from my wardrobe instead of polyvore. The dresses are so pretty. Love the daisy and cherry bags. The shoes are adorable. Love each and every piece of these outfits. Which is your favourite ensemble?

Legally black

Almost from head to toes in pink today. Another cute preppy outfit for work. I found the skirt in an offer bin, one of the stalls in a fashion bazaar last year. Guess how much was the skirt? It was RM5! I changed the buttons on the skirts as I felt the skirt looks better with ivory buttons instead of black buttons. The vintage blouse was also on sale and I got it for RM5! Great look does not cost much.

Fashion inspiration: 60's chic

Photos taken from: SO-EN: Blouses Special Issue by Bunka Fukuso-Gankun Fashion School Publishing Bureau

These outfits are so effortlessly chic. Simple and clean cut. Love the brooches and white beaded bag. They are so lovely, don't you think? I have been checking out white beaded bags on etsy lately. It would be great if I could find beaded bags in any thrift stores here. Keeping my fingers crossed. Unable to find the publishing date but I am guessing these are from the 1960's.

Marketing or thrifting - does it matter?

Pasar Tani (local market) is cool! I took an advice from my new friend, Arina, to check out pasar tani. Glad that I did. Thanks for your advice! Vintage dresses are sold at affordable prices. How cool is this. I was at Pasar Tani Mega Stadium Shah Alam (Mega Local Market Shah Alam Stadium) yesterday. This market is opened on Sundays, from 7 am to 12 noon. Do check it out if you are in the neighbourhood.

Vintage dresses are hidden amongst bundle clothes or dresses. Digging (not literally) and rummaging are required to find these treasures. Patience and the ability to stand the hot and humid weather are needed as well. Without them, it would not be a successful thrifting trip.

As always, I hardly leave empty handed. I bought four dresses (at least three of them are vintage whilst the nude colour dress is quite hard to date) and a wicker tote bag (yay!). I think I bought vintage dresses from each different eras - floral orange shift dress looks like it is from the 1960's, pale yellow dress from the 1970's and the colourful dress from the 1980's. All these cost not more than RM50. I heart pasar tani!

Hope everyone had a good start today and have a good week ahead!

Almost a deja vu

After a while, I may stuck in a certain rut. Just realised that my outfit for today was quite similar to the outfit for a past post; Almost perfect. It was the same white blouse, same bag and the same colour of bottom although this time I was wearing a pair of flared shorts. This was a more relaxed and casual look.

The look:
Vintage blouse from the vintage vibes
Flared shorts
Weave belt
Thrifted belt
Studded sandals

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Take care.

Fashion inspiration

Emma Pillsbury has an extensive collection of adorable brooches and cardigans. Love the colour palette of her wardrobe. The colours are so refreshing and great colour combos. Her style is simple yet stylish. Effortlessly chic.

Who is your fashion inspiration from a telly show or movie?

Plan B

My outfit for today was supposedly another vintage dress - stripes in light muted green. Unfortunately, the zipper was broken at the very last minute this morning. The zipper was OK when I tried the dress two or three times some time ago. Nothing much I could do but to find a replacement quickly. Randomly I picked this dress as my plan B. Phew... one dress crisis solved.
