Almost perfect

It would be a perfect photo if I was not in a hurry to dash and it was not breezy at that moment. If only I could spare a minute or two to adjust my hair accordingly and snap again. Then I would have a perfect photo for this entry. Sigh.

The Apartment Charity Yard Sale

Last weekend, a charity yard sale was held at the Apartment, the Curve. Items sold were children or baby items, shoes, bags, accessories, clothes, books, CDs and also T.G.I. Friday's memorabilia.

A pair of Jean Paul Gaultier's shoes (pre-loved item, of course) was sold at RM30. Too bad the shoes were not in my size. Otherwise, the shoes would have found a new home. Another item that caught my eye was the horse rocker (last photo). It was so cute. My friend was very lucky to purchase it at RM20 (needed minor restoration though).

If you have missed this yard sale, do look out for update in the Apartment's site for such event. They might organize another charity yard sale. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thrift Therapy

Retail therapy is fun but thrift therapy is even more fun. The thrill of finding hidden treasure and also to pay at a small fraction of what it was cost are indescribable. Think of a child in a candy or ice cream store.

I came across information on Donate & Buy Shop on the internet whilst searching for thrift or second hand stores in Klang Valley. The shop sells old books, old decorative items and old clothes donated by charitable people. Details of the shop:-

Strolling down the Memory Lane

Memory Lane is a flea market in Ipoh and it opens only on Sunday, as early as 7 am and closes at 1 pm. I managed to check out this flea market during my trip to Ipoh. There were not as many antique items if compares to Amcorp Mall flea market but I saw couple of old sewing machines. There were many vintage bags instead of vintage clothes. As for the clothes, they looked like they were pre-loved items or old clothes from the 1990's. Anyway, somehow, I have this feeling of going around Peninsular Malaysia to check out or go thrifting at flea markets.

1978

Pictures taken from: Teenager Blouses, Apparel for Young Ladies,

The year 1978 is a vital year of my life. It was the year when I came into this world not knowing what I would be heading for and what path lies ahead of me. Life is full of mystery and everyday is a learning process. In terms of fashion, I love pussy bow blouses and fancy collars. Pussy bow blouses are timeless chic top. A must-haves item, well at least for me.

Go Dutch!

Somehow this dress reminds me of the Netherlands, perhaps it is because of the orange colour. In conjunction with 2010 World Cup final match, since Dutch team will play against Spanish team, this is my way of supporting the Dutch team.

Antique Sewing Machines

Whilst thrifting at my favourite flea market last Sunday, I noticed quite a number of stalls were selling antique sewing machines. Interesting and a bit tempted to get one. Even if I did get one, what would I do with it? Use it or just keep it as a collectible item? And these babies are not cheap. They can cost over thousands of Ringgit Malaysia.

The third photo (from top to bottom) shows antique sewing machines which can be dated back 1890's or 1900's. Came across a cool website on antique and vintage sewing machines - http://www.sewmuse.co.uk/

I think I should be thankful with the sewing machine that I have at the moment. After all, I need a sewing machine to sew, not just for display. Unless I have the extra money to do so.

A touch of bright turquoise

I experimented my look yesterday by wearing a pair of bright turquoise shoes. Normally I would paired such colour combination dress (grey and white) with a pair of black shoes - either heels or flats. Or with a pair of red heels for sexy look.

The look:
Thrifted striped dress
Necklace
Vintage belt from the Vintage Vibes
Vintage bag
Bright turquoise kitten heels

Inspiration: Breathless

I heard about Breathless (directed by Jean-Luc Godard, 1960) in 1999 or 2000. Back then I was a film and broadcasting student. It was not until 2008 that I finally watched the film in a cinema. The white-turned-yellow movie stub is pinned on my board.

Picture taken from: http://thebarnothing.blogspot.com/2009/10/this-dress-leaves-me-breathless.html

I like the costumes of Patricia Franchini, played by Jean Seberg. Her outfits were so chic. Perhaps my liking for striped tops and dresses is influenced by this.

Note: Watch the movie at google video: A bout de souffle
