outfit post: bringing vintage back

outfit: thrifted vintage top, thrifted denim a-line skirt, ballerina flats

Recently the management of my work place has decided to bring back casual Fridays. Yes, to me, it is an opportunity to wear vintage! I must admit whilst yesterday outfit was plain and ordinary but it was a good first step to wear vintage the office. What I love about the top is the double collars; such an understated design, don't you think? Now, I can't wait to wear vintage on every Friday...

Till my next post, stay chic and have a lovely weekend!

new additions

leaves printed dress

white top

These are my latest additions or perhaps I should say one new item for my wardrobe. The golden leaves print dress is so lovely that I could not resist to purchase it! And I was lucky to find it on HK$10 rack.Whilst the white top is for fashion project. Last weekend, I wanted to spend some time on a fashion project but I had to attend something else instead. Hope I have more time to spend on fashion project in these few weeks.

Hope you had a great weekend. Have a wonderful week ahead :)

thrifted and a gift

vintage white top

vintage blue dress

It is a tradition to buy new clothes for Chinese New Year, guess what I did? I bought a vintage top at Mee & Gee in Central, HK. It costs HK$10; still a good bargain though. As for the blue dress, it was a gift from my sister. Can't wait to wear them!

Hope you had a great weekend. Have a good week ahead!

HK$5 thrift finds

top

top for project

I do not have much luck at SA thrift stores in HK but I do have all the luck I need in Mee & Gee stores. I can find lovely pieces on the HK$5 rack. One of the tops is for DIY project whilst the other one is ready to be worn for work! I foresee more thrifting trips to Mee & Gee...

breaking the rules...

thrifted vintage black top

thrifted vintage lace collar top

Although I have said to myself, "Don't buy anymore clothes." many, many times since I have been here, last Sunday I broke this rule. Not only I have yet to figure out how to store extra clothes which I have brought from Malaysia, I have just added two more pieces into this pile.

What you didn't know is the price of these vintage tops. Are you ready? Here goes... each top costs HK$5. Yup, HK$5 for each top. I found these pieces on the HK$5 rack. Great finds, right?

Another rule that I have broken is buying vintage clothes (although I should not do this in the first place) which needs alteration. Without a sewing machine, alteration is quite a challenge. I thought about altering the tops by hand but I am not sure whether this is a good idea... hhmmm.

Anyway, hope you had a lovely weekend. Stay stylish and have a good week ahead!

thrifted finds

Happy Monday and hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I was back to my home town for Mother's Day celebration. Managed to squeeze in thrifting adventures during my stay. I was pretty luck during this trip. Look what I have scored:

macrame bag

brooch

shabby tin

glasses

pisces glasses

beaded bag

woven bag

As you can see from the above photos, I purchased items that I hardly purchase previously - shabby tin and glasses. The reason I purchased the shabby tin is because it reminded me of a tin that I used to keep my secret stuff when I was in my early teens. As for the glasses, I love the design and Pisces is my zodiac sign. I am thrilled to come across with such lovely bags at SA's thrift store and Memory Lane flea market respectively. I could not believe my luck!

Have a great week ahead everyone!

thrifted deco items

I have been busy focusing on posting thrifted vintage clothes and bags until I have forgotten about decorations that I bought for my room. Lately, I have started to decorate my room and also to unpack some of my belongings (finally).

Here are new additions as room decorations;

A glass container which I think it is used to serve cookies for guests.

An ice cream cup?

Piggy banks (aren't they cute?)

Adorable pair of cat figurines

My room is about 80% to 90% decorated. Still have couple of DIY projects to do and then my room would be perfect or almost perfect. Can not wait till then.

How could I resist...

With my two (not so) latest purchases from Etsy, I think it is only fair to share with you how am I getting on with my spending vow of RM50 per month. Well, I bet you can guess. Yup, I am totally off the track! Off the track for good reasons such as love a particular colour, do not have that piece in that colour etc. Or these are just lame excuses to get away with it.

Thrifted pre-loved skirt from Tirah (Flashback), I love bazaar. Love the colour!

60% price slashed, khaki blazer (which I have longed to buy for so long) from Cats Whiskers.

Yellow mustard top from Zara, winter collection clearance

All these items cost me less than RM100. Really thankful that I have Ang Pow monies to cover my purchases. Phew... I hope at some point I could really get back on track with my spending vow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I am back from my holiday. It was a fruitful trip - seeing family and friends and not forgetting, lucky finds. Here is a sneak peak of my thrifting finds (from Penang and Ipoh). Blogging will resume as usual starting tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Stay tuned!
