vintage woven shoes

vintage shoes 1

This lovely woven vintage shoes caught my eyes when I first laid my eyes on them. I was hesitated at to check the size and then give them a try. I know once I have tried them on, it would be really difficult for me to leave them in the shop. However, after some serious thoughts, I finally decided to try them on... and the rest is history.

The label of the shoes is very light and the era of the shoes is unknown - maybe post 1970s? Regardless the era, these are cute pair of shoes; perfect for spring and summer.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend. Until my next post, stay chic!

outfit post (finally...yay!)

outfit: vintage dress, pre-loved moschino belt, vintage heels

Every now and then, I try to wear vintage clothes or add vintage elements into my outfits. At times, the weather does not permit. It has been raining for days now and I can not wait for sunny days. I wore this ensemble to a Hong Kong Philharmonic performance early of the month. The pre-loved Moschino belt was purchased from Vintage HK few months back. It was my first purchase from the shop. Whenever I am at Central without fail I check out the shop even it is just window shopping. Hong Kong requires loads of walking and sadly, one of the heel cap/top lift/heel tip of my vintage heels is broken. The damage is not serious and a visit to a cobbler will fix the problem. And now, the vintage heels are resting in its shoes box, waiting to be fixed and for the next adventures.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Stay chic!

essential accessories of the little black dress - a le french may event

I love May because of Le French May event in Hong Kong. This year there is an interesting exhibition on accessories to complement with little black dress at Elements, Kowloon. Members of the public and fashionista alike would enjoy this exhibition - well, I know I did. Picture says a thousand of words, so I let these photos do their work...

ooppss... i did it again

vintage bally shoes

Oppss... I did it again. Well, there is double meaning here. Firstly, yes, I went MIA for a while. I sincerely apologize for this.... I was working on so-called a ssecret project which now it is not the right time to share anything about it yet. Believe me, I wanted to share with you but... I just can't. Once the timing is right, I will definitely share with you. Secondly, I bought a pair of vintage Bally shoes in one of the vintage stores in HK. My heart dashed into tiny pieces when I learnt that my vintage Ferragamo is wearing out and it is time to buy a new pair. Not sure whether it was pure luck, coincidence or fate, I came across a lovely pair of vintage Bally shoes in my size in a vintage store when I was so-called window shopping few weeks ago! Kind of perfect timing as well. Anyway, what do you think of my addition?

fulfilled

front bag

ferragamo shoes

Yay, yay! Two of my birthday wishlist items have been fulfilled. I splurged myself on a vintage (90s) Chanel bag and a pair of crocodile embossed leather Ferragamo shoes. Checked on ebay and found an exact pair and these lovely shoes are vintage. Did the same search on the vintage Chanel bag. The exact bag is sold here, for over one thousand pound sterling. Bought these items from Mymilan Milan few weeks ago for a fraction of what is charging in pound sterling. I guess I was lucky to find these within my budget. Now, I have to start saving again as I am still looking for vintage Chanel brooch or earrings and perhaps another vintage Chanel bag in black. Hhhmm...

Happy Easter and have a good weekend.

1940s shoes

Lately I have been drawn to 1940's shoes and I am not sure how this has happened. I could not stop checking out lovely 1940's shoes on etsy. Etsy is such a great site to source for almost any vintage pieces from 1900s to 1980s. I have been enjoying my virtual window shopping recently. Too bad 1940's shoes are way out of my budget to own a pair. Sigh.

Go long

Due to the fact that I am petite, most of the time I do not wear long skirt or long dress, unless it is a lovely skirt or dress. I alter my skirts and dresses from below knees to above knees length. However, at times, I thought perhaps it would be good to try to break the 'rule'. This outfit features my lovely vintage brooch and vintage shoes bought from etsy some time ago. The brooch is super cute and the vintage shoes are so lovely - woven leather.

The look:
White shirt, hands-me-down
Olive green cardigan, hands-me-down
Vintage skirt from I'm Your Personal Shopper
Vintage brooch from etsy
Vintage shoes from etsy
Handmade beret
Woven belt

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

I did it my way...

I have waited anxiously for a parcel lately. An order from etsy. And finally it arrived this afternoon. I could not wait to open it till I got home.

I have not given up hope in getting white or ivory shoes with either gold accents or bows. For this case, I have decided to make the bows myself. I am quite a DIY girl, so I would not stop until I try.

Before

After

What do you think? Not bad, right? Will share how I made the bows soon. So stay tuned!

The search continues...

I am still looking for a pair of white vintage shoes. Not just plain white vintage shoes, I want them to come either with bows or some gold accents. Something similar to the white Ferragamo shoes I purchased a while ago. Sigh. Will I ever find the right pair of white vintage shoes (that are within my budget)?

Lucky or unlucky?

What can make ones' day none other than receiving a long waited items that was purchased via online or receiving a gift? Mine was a long waited items purchased from Etsy. Yes, I know, I am hooked on Etsy. Received these parcel at work. I was pretty excited and controlled myself not to open them at work.

Parcel 1

Nicely packed package with a thank you note. Nice gesture.

Shoes were nicely wrapped with layers of soft paper.

Shoes received in good condition but... yes, there is a but for this purchase. They do not fit. I am gutted. The seller made a typo error on the width of the shoes and I am not very familiar with that particular brand's sizing. I am thinking of selling them. Anyway, if anyone would like to provide these lovely shoes a new home. Please let me know.

Parcel 2

Guess what I bought?

It is a vintage pillbox hat! I love this hat. It fits well. Although there is no occasion for me to wear such hat but I am keeping it as part of my vintage collection.

So at this moment, I am partly happy and partly upset with my purchases. Anyway, I can't wait to check out Thr5t launch tonight! Good luck girls!

Vintage shoes II

Now that I have got my babies, vintage shoes, I need to take good care of them. How? I bought 2-in-1 leather polish-like which cleans and protects. This step is pretty easy as ABC - just read and follow instructions on the box.

What's next? How to clean inside of the shoes? Hhmm.... pretty tricky as these are vintage shoes and I was not sure the history of the shoes. I googled to find a solution. And I did.

The magic ingredient is tea tree oil. Pour tea tree oil into water in the ratio 1:4. One part of tea tree oil for every 4 parts of water used. Dab a cloth into the solution and wipe inside of the shoes. For hard to reach spots, use cotton bud. After that, put the shoes to dry out in the Sun. I did not put them out long as the Sun is pretty hot over this part of the world. Just one to two minutes in the Sun and couple of minutes under the fan.

Now these babies are ready to walk the walk.

New addition

Yay! Safely received my new vintage shoes, which I bought from etsy. It really made my day, especially after a hard day's work. Very delighted to receive the parcel and I did not open the parcel on the spot. I waited and waited till I got home.

The seller packed the shoes in a plastic bag and covered them with thin papers.

Phew... it was good to know that the shoes are in good condition. They look like they were hardly worn by the previous owner. I bet the previous owner was a fashionable lady. The shoes fit perfectly and I love them - the colour, the woven leather, the design, just everything about the shoes. They are so lovely and I know just the right dresses to pair with them...
